Some of the most beautiful weddings I've ever photographed had ten people present. Sometimes fewer. There's something quietly extraordinary about a couple who chooses to step away from the noise of a traditional wedding — to marry where the light is good, the air is soft, and the only people in the room are the ones who matter most.

I'm Flavia, a Lisbon-based photographer with a romantic documentary approach and an editorial eye. I photograph elopements across Portugal for couples who want their day to feel like theirs — small, true, beautifully unhurried, and remembered exactly as it felt.

There is a particular quality to an elopement that a larger wedding can never quite capture. Without a long guest list, a tight timeline, or the gentle chaos of a hundred small logistics, the day breathes. You notice things — the warmth of the light at a certain hour, the way your partner looks at you when no one is watching, the silence that follows a vow.

My role is to document all of it, gently and without interruption. I work the way I do at full weddings — romantic, documentary, editorial — but the pace is slower, the moments quieter, and the images carry a particular kind of stillness that elopement couples come to love.

Whether you're exchanging vows on a Sintra hilltop with two witnesses, marrying barefoot on an Ericeira beach, or saying everything you need to say to each other inside a small Lisbon chapel, or even one of our historic palaces, the goal is the same: photographs that feel less like documentation and more like memory itself.

Twenty minutes from Lisbon and a world away. Sintra's palaces, forests, and mountain mist make it one of the most cinematic elopement locations in Europe. Pena Palace, Monserrate, Quinta da Regaleira, the hidden chapels of the Serra — each offers a different mood. For couples who want their elopement to feel a little fairytale, Sintra is unmatched.

Elope in the heart of the city, with cobbled streets, pastel facades, golden light spilling across the Tagus, and centuries of romance written into every corner. Lisbon works beautifully for couples who want their elopement to feel cinematic and alive — a quiet ceremony at a viewpoint, followed by portraits through Alfama and Bairro Alto as the city wakes up around you.

Terraced vineyards, slow rivers, and a landscape that feels almost painted. The Douro suits couples drawn to wine country, long languid lunches, and a slower northern Portugal rhythm. Quintas (wine estates) throughout the valley offer extraordinary settings for small ceremonies.

Wild cliffs, soft pine, and the open Atlantic. The coast between Cascais and Cabo da Roca — the westernmost point of mainland Europe — is dramatic, romantic, and beautifully quiet outside the high season. Ideal for couples who want their elopement framed by ocean horizons.

How an Elopement with Me Works

1. We start with a conversation. Tell me about the two of you, the kind of day you're imagining, and where you'd like to elope. We'll talk through what's possible, what's beautiful, and what suits you best.

2. We plan together. Locations, timing, light, logistics. If you need vendor recommendations — celebrant, florist, hair and makeup, intimate dining, a small bouquet — I'll point you to the people I've worked with and trust.

3. The day itself, unhurried. Most elopement coverage runs from a few hours up to a full day, depending on what you have in mind. Getting ready, ceremony, portraits, perhaps a quiet meal afterwards. The pace is yours.

4. Your gallery, beautifully edited. Your full edited gallery is delivered within 4 to 6 weeks, in high resolution, ready to print and share. A short preview gallery is sent within the first two weeks.
